25% Glass Fiber Filled PTFE Rod

Glass filled PTFE uses glass fibre as a filler as it offers much improved compression and wear properties compared to virgin PTFE.

Content

What is 25% Glass Fiber Filled PTFE Rod?

Glass fiber it is the most common PTFE filler and it can increase the wear and creep resistance of PTFE. 25% glass fiber filled PTFE rod material can be used in oxidizing environments, but be aware that glass fiber reacts with HF and strong bases.

25% glass fiber filled PTFE rod material has a slightly higher coefficient of friction but better extrusion resistance than Glass fiber amd Moly filled PTFE materials. They are typically used in seal components for dynamic applications. 25% glass fiber filled PTFE rod also prefers a lubricated environment and are used to seal against steel, stainless steel, and chromium-plated surfaces.

Glass Fiber Filled PTFE Properties

• Glass Fiber PTFE has an exceptional resistance to water.
• Chemically Inert (Exceptions in HF and Strong Bases)
• Performs well in oxidizing environments
• Increases wear and creep resistance

Weakness

25% glass fiber filled PTFE rod must be avoided with the use of strong alkalis and hydrofluoric acid.

Typical Applications

• Ideal for high load bearing applications, against high hardness surfaces.
• Cookware coatings and rotating platforms
• Containers and pipelines for chemicals
• Bearings and bearing pads
• Valve seats and valve plugs
• Machinery lubricant
• Piston rings
• Wear Pads
• Gaskets
