What is Expanded Ptfe Joint Sealant Tape?

Expanded PTFE joint sealant tape is a gasket tape which is made of monoaxially expanded pure PTFE with a high density. Expanded PTFE joint sealant tape is characterised by a rectangular cross-section and a relatively small width. The high density of the material and the special cross-section of the tape allow the sealing of very uneven sealing surfaces even at a low gasket stress

Applications of Expanded Ptfe Joint Sealant Tape

Expanded PTFE joint sealant tape is suitable for delicate sealing applications on surfaces vulnerable to tension, such as glass or ceramics. The expanded PTFE joint sealant tape can also be used to seal weak flanges subject to considerable deformation, for example glass reinforced plastics (GRP), plastic fittings and ventilation facilities.

Why We use Expanded PTFE Joint Tape?

The reason for why we use expanded ptfe joint tape is that it has many advantages such as it has low diffusion leakage, excellent adaptability to all surfaces, and it is easy filling of flange gaps and harmless for food-contact applications.

Expanded Ptfe Joint Sealant Tape Specification

The following are the most important technical specifications of the Expanded Ptfe Joint Sealant Tape

• Almost universal chemical resistance: inert to most acids, bases, esters, aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, ethers, lubricants and fuels, among other substances.
• Service temperature range: from -240 ºC to +290 ºC.
• pH range: from 0 to 14.
• White color.

Differences between PTFE and expanded PTFE

You are probably wondering what the differences are between conventional PTFE and expanded PTFE.

Both materials share similar properties that are optimal for industrial applications. However, expanded PTFE has a superior versatility than PTFE and, consequently, it can be manufactured in different sizes, densities and thicknesses.
