What is Polyimide Sheet?

PI polyimide sheet is one of the most heat-resistant and refractory polymer plastics sheet, and polyimide sheet has excellent mechanical and physical properties at high temperatures. Polyimide can be thermosets or thermoplastics. Polyimide sheet has excellent electrical properties over a wide range of temperatures and humidities. The components of polyimide are also unaffected by dilute acids, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, esters, ethers, alcohols, freons, hydraulic oils and kerosene. Vespel® is a high performance polyimide material which is formed from resin manufactured only by DuPont.

Vespil 7001

Vespil 7001 is unfilled natural polyimide sheet, it offers superior wear and insulation properties with operating temperatures from cryogenic to 300°C (570°F). Vespil 7021

Vespil 7021 is the polyimide sheet filled with 15% graphite added to the base resin for increased wear resistance and reduced friction in applications such as plain bearings, thrust washers, seal rings, slide blocks and other wear applications. This compound has the best mechanical properties of the graphite-filled grades, but lower than the virgin grade

Vespil 7022

Vespil 7022 is the polyimide sheet filled with 40% graphite for enhanced wear resistance, lower friction, improved dimensional stability (low coefficient of thermal expansion), and stability against oxidation.

Vespil 70202

Vespil 70202 is the electrically conductive grade polyimide sheet. It is available in a sheet or plaque format. Vespil 70202 polyimide sheet has electric conductivity properties that make it the ideal option where the potential for static discharge is a concern. In addition, Vespil 70202 polyimide sheet can maintain a tolerance through multiple cycles in heats up to 300°C.

Vespil 70211

Vespil 70211 is the polyimide sheet filled with 10% PTFE and 15% graphite added to the base resin for the lowest coefficient of friction over a wide range of operating conditions. Vespil SP-3

Vespil SP-3 is the polyimide sheet filled with 15% Mos2, it is used for wear and friction resistance in vacuum and other moisture-free environments where graphite actually becomes abrasive. Typical applications include seals, plain bearings, gears, and other wear surfaces in outer space, ultra-high vacuum or dry gas applications.

Vespil 5000

Vespil 5000 is an unfilled polyimide polymer that offers high modulus and surface hardness and improved dimensional stability. Compared to traditional polyimides, it offers better strength and stiffness at high temperatures.

Vespil 5050
